POKOTABI / Christie
CHRISTIE 原宿本店
Just off Harajuku's busy streets, Christie pairs pots of fine tea with homemade cakes, scones, toast, and distinctive sandwiches in a relaxed teahouse setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked just off bustling Takeshita Street in Harajuku, Christie offers a tranquil, slightly nostalgic atmosphere once you step through the door. Outfitted with sofa seating, this teahouse serves a comprehensive selection of black teas alongside an attentive café menu.
The tea list stands out for its breadth, ranging from Christie's Blend—a house recipe combining black teas from Sri Lanka, India, and China—to smoky Keemun and fragrant Rose Congou. Tea is served by the pot, providing plenty of cups to linger over alongside a cake set. In the display case, housemade sweets include a classic mille-feuille layered with custard and strawberries, traditional carrot cake studded with raisins and grated carrot under cream cheese icing, and choux puffs filled with rum-infused apple compote.
Scone sets are served with jam and a house cream blended with clotted cream. Diners can select from varieties such as plain or bergamot-scented, pairing the warm baked goods with hot tea. Longstanding savory specialties include the cucumber sandwich—crisp cucumber layered with mustard and mayonnaise on caraway-spiced dark rye bread—and cheese marmalade toast, which balances sweet, tart marmalade with melted cheese.
A full English breakfast featuring bacon, sausage, and toast is also available, accommodating everything from a hearty meal to a relaxed shopping break.
